The Department of Management at Bahra University, Shimla Hills, India, organized a virtual two-day workshop on “Financial Literacy”. The workshop aimed to provide valuable insights into various aspects of finance to students pursuing MBA, BBA, and BCom programs. The workshop was conducted over two days, with each session lasting for two hour. The sessions were conducted via an online platform, allowing students to participate remotely.

Day 1: Introduction to Financial Planning and Investment Basics The first day of the workshop commenced with an opening address by Mr. Sunil Kumar Malik, the Director of Training & Placement at Bahra University. He emphasized the importance of financial literacy in today’s dynamic world. Ms. Yogita, a senior faculty member from the Department of Management & Ms. Harshita, a senior trainer introduced the speaker and provided an overview of the workshop’s objectives.
The main speaker for the day was Mr. Anam Chawla, a renowned Financial Advisor associated with Motilal Oswal Group. Mr. Chawla delved into the essentials of financial planning, highlighting the significance of setting financial goals and creating a structured plan to achieve them. He introduced the concept of budgeting, saving, and the power of compounding. Mr. Chawla also touched upon the basics of investment instruments such as mutual funds, stocks, and debentures.
Day 2: In-depth Insights into Investment Instruments On the second day of the workshop, Ms. Yohita, faculty member from the Department of Management, facilitated the session. She recapped the key points covered on the first day and encouraged participants to ask questions and share their thoughts
The majority of the session was dedicated to an in-depth exploration of investment instruments. Mr. Anam Chawla continued his presentation by providing more detailed insights into debentures, mutual funds, and stocks. He explained their types, benefits, and associated risks. He also shared real-world examples and case studies to help students grasp the practical aspects of these investment options.
The session concluded with a lively Q&A session and a quiz on financial literacy, where students enthusiastically interacted with Mr. Chawla and clarified their doubts.
